On Shamanism and Totems – What Lies Behind These Practices.
In this article, we will explore the popular topic of Shamanism and Totems, which captures the interest of many and is quite widespread not only in esoteric circles but also among the general population.
As always, we debunk the widespread fascination with these topics based on understanding what is really there and how everything unfolds from the perspective of energy-information concepts.
It's hardest to talk about what everyone already knows. Everyone already has some understanding of it and their own beliefs. Surprisingly and regrettably, none of today's publications reveal the essence of this phenomenon, the internal depth of the knowledge system. Instead, they merely describe numerous practical aspects of working with totems or rituals. By the way, the descriptions in most cases come not from an esoteric perspective, but from a psychological or consumer point of view. Everything is presented on the market for consumption in the aura of mystique and is aimed at the irrationality of people.
Let's delve into this issue.
For laypeople, a Totem is an image or figurine of an animal, usually wooden poles, worshipped by Native Americans or shamans of Buryatia in Russia, or indigenous people in Australia.
From a perspective, it's an element of worship in the so-called totemism. Totemism is one of the earliest primitive religions of humanity. The word "totem" itself comes from the vocabulary of one of the Native American tribes and means a clan sign, or an animal to which the tribe worships. The essence of totemism, as a religion, lies in the cult of worshiping some object, usually an animal, bird, or occasionally a plant. People who worship such an animal consider themselves kin.
A totem, when viewed through the psychosphere of influence, is a certain psychological or physical quality expressed through some animal.
From an esoteric point of view, a Totem is an energetic work with the egregore of an animal, meaning with the elements of Power inherent in that particular species of animals. Plants are generally not included here, although similar practices were developed in the now-lost traditions of the Druids. This knowledge is practically lost today.
Everyone knows what an egregore is. In esoteric tradition, it is believed that wild animals, and indeed the animal and plant worlds in general, do not possess individual consciousness but rather have a collective unified consciousness. They lack individual personalities and are part of the collective consciousness of their species, or egregore.
Let's summarize. A Totem is a collective spirit of a certain species of animals with which a person or tribe can establish a close connection, interact, and draw Power from.
However, today, due to the irrationality of the population and the widespread dissemination of information on the internet by certain guiding structures aimed at directing society along the path of development they deem fit, the religion of past peoples is turning into a pop-esoteric "entertainment".
Consciously, the technology of working with the collective consciousness of a particular species of animals is distorted and consequently lost.
Over the years of the internet's existence, the topic of Totems has been seriously profaned. Totems have been attributed psychological or physical qualities, and the information does not go beyond that.
It is believed that a person resembles a certain animal in character, personality traits, or physical features, etc. As a result, the totem becomes a useless setting for followers, reminding them of a quality they already possess. For example, a lone, tough man chooses the wolf as his totem, which only reinforces this quality in him. Or a wrestler choosing the bear totem enhances his strength by associating himself with it.
A totem does make sense when it is tuned into, but not in a layman's sense, rather in a magical sense.
Knowing or saying that your totem is a certain animal won't change anything in your life. All talk about predisposition to one totem or another is empty and meaningless. Let's explain why.
Predisposition exists only when a person's mentality (consciousness) has already changed towards greater affinity with the spirit of the animal. You are human, but you become more like an animal. So, which way do you want to evolve and change, towards the animal or towards the human?
Interest in a certain animal does not necessarily mean predisposition towards it. You can't just contact that spirit. First, you need to change your frequency to such an extent, to change yourself so much that it becomes possible to resonate with the totem animal. The same goes for using Elemental Powers. It's the same thing when a person believes they have an affinity with the element of fire, water, or air. It has become fashionable to study this again... In most cases, it's pure fantasy.
Since a totem is the collective spirit of an animal, as well as the technology and practical work with it, people should understand that working with the totem is done in conjunction with a real animal, not a trinket. Here, one must understand the complexity of rituals, where elements of physical parts of animals are used. Skins, paws, bones, and other fragments of the animal, where the image of the totemic creature can be sealed.
HEALING in Shamanic Practices
These things are not accessible to everyone in reality. The totemic chest does not open to the ordinary person who decides to engage in shamanism in the social conditions of urban life.
As a rule, the mystery, like the art of healing and curing, is passed down through the lineage. Here, if the shaman has mastered his science properly, he performs a special ritual to reunite the patient with their totem.
Laypeople confuse healing practices with genuine shamanic ancestral traditions. Drumming, chanting, or magical practices used by many today—these are not shamanism. Through certain actions, the shaman enters into a trance, and beyond that, it becomes a separate type of work.
In shamanism, healing is conducted through a ritual of blood mixing. If the shaman is properly trained in tradition, during healing, he rubs the totemic pole of the tribe with the blood of the animal. Then the patient's blood is taken and smeared on top of the pole, mixing with the animal's blood. Additionally, to better connect with the totem, the patient may be fed raw meat of the totemic animal. The logic is that the more complex and dangerous the illness, the tighter the connection with the totemic animal must be for the patient. Sometimes food is shared with the totemic animal. All this is done to strengthen the connection with the totem. Then the sick person is separated from the tribe, forced to fast, and observe certain cleanliness. In isolation, the person must perform, or have performed for them, certain ablutions, fumigations with herbs, drinking...
In some particularly severe cases, rituals of soul substitution with an animal spirit can be conducted. To connect with the totem, the shaman sacrifices an animal, then catches the returning energy cluster of the animal's spirit and connects it to the person. As a result, a connection with the prototype of this animal is established. Such practices are used today, but very few possess this gift. The technique of catching the soul of a dying animal is not understandable to everyone, let alone mastering such an action. This allows the shaman to cultivate a special spiritual body or a special monad, a monad based on the animal prototype, which he then uses to transfer his consciousness there in the future.
This is the same technology of transferring consciousness into the double matrix of the animal, formed as a result of many years of practice. Two consciousnesses are connected by a silver thread that unites these two consciousnesses—a human's and an animal's. With such a second monad, after his death, the shaman can shift into this monad in order to achieve supposed immortality. But immortality in an animal beginning is achieved. Who else could understand this when trying to practice any practices... These technologies are not transmitted to the public:
- not for the sake of making money,
- not to strangers,
- not due to their complexity and the time required to prepare the mind for such work,
- and, besides all this, the tribal totem is the totem of the tribe, and it does not work for someone else. It cannot be transferred unless one is related to that tribe.
If we summarize this information, we find that from an esoteric point of view, a Totem is working with the egregore of a particular species of animal or the collective Spirit of that animal (or Power).
But in the age of the internet and the trendy fascination, the idea of the Totem has been distorted, and the methods offered today for working with totems don't work at all. These methods are not just useless; they are meaningless and only pollute the individual, diverting them from their evolutionary purpose.
