Title
07.03.2025
"...Do you know this feeling? Do you recognize yourself here? You wake up in the morning — everything seems fine. Coffee, phone, social media feed. 'Today I’ll get everything done I planned,' — you think cheerfully. But an hour passes... then another... and now you’re watching a YouTube video titled 'How to Walk a Puma or a Crocodile at Home' or mindlessly scrolling through shorts before moving on to information about a celebrity’s life... Essentially, it’s all empty and meaningless — an information field filled with 'junk' content. The task? Yes, I remember. I’ll start now. Let me just put on a TV show 'in the background' — and I’ll begin... Three episodes later. 'Well, okay, today doesn’t seem like the right day. Tomorrow I’ll definitely get started.'"
OUR QUESTION TO YOU – Tomorrow. Later. Never?
When you experience procrastination, it’s not just laziness — it’s something else. Let’s discuss this.
People often say that procrastination comes from laziness. But are you really lazy? Would a lazy person be googling at two in the morning, “What’s the difference between a crocodile and an alligator?” Or deep-cleaning the entire house in search of inspiration? Laziness is the complete lack of desire to do anything. But if a person does have the desire but just not right now, that’s a completely different state.
"I’ll definitely do it. But later. When I’m in the mood." Sounds familiar?
Everyone has faced this state. And it can last endlessly until you realize one simple truth: It’s not about your mood. Not about inspiration. And not about time. It’s all — in your head.
Another story from our patient archive about “later.”
"...Once, I decided to write a short text. Just a couple of pages. 'No big deal, I’ll do it tomorrow.' But tomorrow turned out to be a busy day. 'Well, the day after tomorrow then.' A week later, I had to explain to the client why the text still wasn’t done. I came up with excuses, but in reality, I was simply afraid. Afraid to do it poorly. Afraid it wouldn’t work out. So, what did I do? Exactly. Nothing.
And then I was saved by a random thought: 'What if I don’t try to make it perfect, but just do it somehow?'
I wrote the text in an hour. And you know what? It turned out just fine. No one expected a masterpiece from me. I was the one who set a standard so high that I was scared to reach for it."
Once again, we see that it’s all in your head — in how you think.
How to Start Doing What You’ve Been Putting Off?
Without motivational mantras or pretentious calls to action. Just a few small tips from us — little insights that might actually help you:
1."I’ll do it badly — but I’ll do it." We’re often so afraid of doing something imperfectly that we never start at all. But give yourself a break: let it be bad. Let it be sloppy — but done.
When you remove the obligation to do something perfectly, the task becomes easier. Your brain relaxes because it no longer needs to create a masterpiece. It no longer sees a reason to resist. And it says to you: “Well, okay then, we can start.”
2."One small step" — a practice that also helps overcome this state. For example, I often put off writing a text for several days. Eventually, I sat down and thought: "I’ll just open the file. That’s all. If I don’t feel like it, I’ll close it right back." I opened it. Wrote a headline. Then — the first sentence. After that, thoughts started flowing one after another. That was it. The process had started.
Starting is always the hardest part. But if the first step is microscopic, your brain doesn’t have time to get scared.
3."Just 10 minutes" — a method to break through the barrier. Set a timer for 10 minutes and promise yourself: "I’ll work for just 10 minutes — and then I’m free."
When the timer rings, you’re already in the process. You realize you can keep going. You could stop — but in those 10 minutes, you’ve already done something. And that’s better than nothing.
4."What Will I Gain If I Finish?" — Now, this is a marketing approach to your favorite person — yourself. The so-called motivation.
Sometimes, we feel that the task itself isn’t interesting. But the question: "What will I gain when I finish?" turns out to be crucial.
- Will I free my mind from constantly thinking about this task?
- Will I feel proud of myself?
- Will I finally be able to watch a TV series without guilt?
- Will I relieve myself of the burden of an unfinished task that has been weighing on me for months?
It’s important to understand that such a state of procrastination doesn’t appear instantly. Sometimes, motivation is simply the desire to silence the inner critic. If only more people realized that.
What You Should Understand About Yourself and Procrastination
Procrastination is not your enemy. It’s a sign. A sign that you’re tired. Or afraid. Or don’t see the point.
When you stop fighting it, things will become easier. Don’t force yourself to "just sit down and do it." Don’t blame yourself for inactivity.
Instead, start asking questions:
- What scares me about this task?
- How can I make it easier?
- What’s the simplest step I can take right now?

Procrastination - how to deal with it?
One of these states is putting everything off until later, until tomorrow.
